Max Wilson Moment- Tom & Ellie

Tom and Ellie’s story is one of patience, romance, and unforgettable moments. After chatting on and off for a year, their connection finally sparked on a first date, leading to a beautiful proposal over Ellie’s 30th birthday weekend at a winery—complete with a heartfelt “Marry Me” spelled out in flowers. Their wedding was all about celebrating with loved ones, stripping back tradition for a night filled with music, laughter, and endless drinks. With stunning custom pieces from Max Wilson Jewellers, including Ellie’s timeless engagement ring and Tom’s classic signet wedding band, their jewellery became a treasured part of their journey.

Here’s a closer look at their special day and the memories they’ll hold forever…

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

Tom is a development manager, and I (Ellie) work for CHANEL. Our greatest joy is our fur child, Bam-Bam, who rules our home. We love simple nights at home together.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions of each other?

Like many modern love stories, ours began on a dating app. We chatted on and off for a year before finally going on a first date. From the moment I met Tom in person, I was struck by how well-mannered he was, someone who had clearly been raised well.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

Tom proposed over my 30th birthday weekend at a winery without the ring as it was held up in customs in Hong Kong. We went to dinner on the property and he stepped out halfway through complaining of a headache. When we returned to the room after dinner he had spelt out Marry Me on the bed in flowers.

What made you choose to go with Max Wilson Jewellers for the design and creation of your engagement and wedding rings?

Susie, Lisa, and the team at Max Wilson feel like family. Their passion for craftsmanship and their ability to source the best stones from around the world made the decision effortless.

If any jewellery or rings were custom made, what is the story behind it and how did max wilsons help bring your vision to life?

I feel incredibly lucky—the diamond studs were a wedding gift, and my tennis bracelet was a 30th birthday present. Tom’s signet wedding band was actually the very first one he tried on (he’s much less fussy than me). As for my engagement ring, I debated between an emerald or radiant cut but ultimately trusted Susie to make the final call.

What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme or aesthetic?

Our vision was simple: an unforgettable party. We stripped back the traditions and focused on what mattered most—great music, food, and endless drinks. We just wanted our guests to have the best time.

What were some of your favorite moments from the wedding itself?

One of the absolute highlights was Susie and Tony Barr’s surprise performance—a full Grease medley that had everyone on their feet.

What advice would you give to future couples planning their weddings?

Embrace every part of the journey, big or small. Dress fittings, cake tastings etc these little moments become cherished memories. Enjoy the process and remember that the joy is in the journey, not just the day itself.
